In this review, our customer Richard Evanson breaks down the upgrades on his Santa Cruz Hightower. Previously, we took a look at his new bar/stem combo, now we will check out his new DMR Brendog Deathgrips and DMR V-Twin clips pedals. With all the new contact points on Richard's bike, this Hightower is looking sharp. Read more below!
I recently upgraded my handlebars and stem and decided to pair them with a set of DMR Brendog Death grips. I love the feel and look of these grips. The new cockpit was a huge upgrade over the stock Santa Cruz carbon flat bars and grips. I also needed a new set of clipless pedals for the Hightower. I usually ride the Shimano xtr spd pedals but I wanted something a little different for this bike. I chose the DMR V Twin Pedals. These pedals look Sick! I also love the adjustability of these pedals. They come with shims and pins so that you can fine-tune the feel you are looking for. These pedals feel like flats when set-up properly.
I am not going to lie to you and tell you how many trails I have shredded with this setup….. I live in PA right outside of Philadelphia and we have had 4 Nor Easters in the last 4 weeks. I will, however, tell you that if you are going to be snowed in….it helps to have a box full of Worldwide Cyclery parts to install on your bike.
