Disc Brake Adaptors

Some mountain bikes need disc brake adaptors in order to mount your disc brake caliper to your frame depending on what size rotor you are using. Almost all bikes now use what is called post to post mount frames that mount directly to a disc brake caliper. Some older bikes use an IS to post mount adaptor and you need that in order to use any caliper on your bike. Post to post is much more common now and sometimes you don't need an adaptor if you are running the minimum size rotor your frame or fork uses. If you want to ride a larger rotor, as many of us do, you will need a disc brake adaptor in order to make those work together. We would recommend using the same brand as your disc brake for your MTB disc brake adaptor as they work together the best and some adaptors are designed around the shape of the caliper. SRAM, Shimano, Hope, TRP, Hayes, Magura and Paul Components are the most common adaptors we use and we try to match those with the caliper brand. Mountain bike disc brake adaptors get very confusing and if you have any questions at all please contact our customer service team.
