OneUp Components is known for constantly upping the standing in the mountain bike industry. Their dropper post has been a shop favorite since its launch a few years back. Now on the V2 version, our customers are still just as happy. Check out what our customer Tommy had to say about his!
I recently purchased OneUp Components 210mm dropper because who wouldn’t want 210mm of dropper goodness?? I previously ran a 185mm Bike Yoke Revive which is a great post as well but I wanted to see if I could squeeze more drop into my bike since I run a fairly high saddle height.
OneUp hands down have the shortest post heights in the market. This allows you to achieve as much drop as possible and is one of their huge advantages compared to any other post on the market. I took a couple of measurements (frame max insertion and saddle height) and confirmed I should be able to fit a 210mm dropper. For comparison Bike Yokes 213mm dropper has an overall post length of 582mm while OneUp Components 210mm dropper has an overall post length of 540mm. This is a significant difference if you factor only a 3mm drop difference of 213mm vs. 210mm.
As far as feel, the OneUp post has a great return speed and the post feels smooth. In comparison to the Bike Yoke, the lever-action is a touch firmer on the OneUp vs. the Bike Yoke. The Bike Yoke requires less force to actuate the post at the lever. The OneUp has a knock once returned to the full extension which is great since this lets you know the dropper post is fully extended.
Installation was fairly easy and typical of most dropper posts. The cable head feeds through the bottom of the dropper and the cable is cinched at the lever. The post came in at 592 grams (31.6 / 210mm) which is fairly light as well as.
The post comes with travel adjustment shims that allow you to lower the post up to 20mm but I was able to just squeeze in the full 210mm.
This is great since it lets you dial in the drop according to your fitment. If the post had been a little too long I could have dropped it to 200mm or 190mm.
After about 250 miles on the post and is subject to So-Cal moon dust conditions the post was still working well but I decided to unscrew the collar and throw a dab of Slick Honey to give the post a little love. This gave the post a touch more smoothness similar to new and was an easy 1-minute job. I have not yet done the full post service which according to OneUp's site is only a 5-minute job.
Overall I would highly recommend the OneUp Post if you want a great post that lets you squeeze as much drop as you can on your bike. The price is very competitive with other dropper posts available in the market.
