Maxxis MaxxSpeed & Severe Mud Tire

MaxxSpeed Compound:

The new Maxxspeed compound uses a silica filler in the rubber, technology found from their road racing compound, that has been tested and proven to perform better than the older 3C compound for off-road use. This adds up to better rolling resistance and performance in the wet. This compound provides 25% lower rolling resistance which equates to about a whole minute on a 90 minute XC race course. Maxxspeed was developed in part with Nino Schurter and the Scott-Sram race team. Available on Aspen, Rekon Race, Ikon, and Severe tire moedels.

Severe Mud Tire:

Along with the Maxxspeed compound comes a wet weather XC mud tire called the Severe! This tire is a narrow-profile mud tire that comes in a 2.25” width that features small spikes, offset center knobs and large spacing to be able to cut through mud efficiently. The Forekaster tire from Maxxis has been put into the “trail” category with the new Severe taking the place of their xc mud tire. We have already seen this tire win multiple mud races under the likes of Nino and Bec McConnell.
