NEW ZEALAND. PROVEN HERE. from Yeti Cycles on Vimeo.
While everyone has been enjoying the Yeti SB4.5c, Yeti has been crafting up their next weapon which was just released today: meet the brand new Yeti SB5.5c, a long travel 29er “where the trail, all-mountain, and gravity bike intersect” according to Yeti. With any bike that Yeti produces, the SB5.5c has gone through rigorous testing with EWS champion Richie Rude and the rest of the in-house test team. The end result is a very fast 29” bike that begs you to ride it aggressively.
Since everyone loves to dissect the geometry, let’s take a look at what the SB5.5c is dealing with. For starters, the bike has 140mm (5.5”) of travel and is spec’d with a Fox 36 160mm fork and Fox Float X rear shock. Yeti sticks to their design of creating longer and slacker bikes on paper with this frame - the headtube angle is 66.5 degrees which is almost a full degree slacker than the SB4.5c and the wheelbase taken from a large is 1195mm. The reach on this same frame is 442mm. Staying true to their sleek frame design, the frame is internally routed and accepts a stealth dropper post. The frame will be available in the standard Yeti blue color which we have all come to know and love and a brand new silver color.
You can bet we are pretty excited to ride this bike! We currently have our demo bike on order and will hopefully be built up by the middle of May! Stay tuned for a full ride review on the 2016 Yeti SB5.5c.
