The Sram Red eTap drivetrain is a wireless groupset that connects the shifter and derailleur through WiFli. Here in this review, our customer David is running the Sram eTap groupset on his Co-Motion Supremo tandem bike. Read more below!
I purchased the SRAM Red eTap WiFli kit from Worldwide late last year, hoping to install it on my Co-Motion Supremo tandem bike during the winter months. Ordering was a breeze and I received the kit in a few days. The installation took a bit longer because I had to convert the bike from a triple crank to a double. Once that was done, the installation was very easy and pretty much the same as a single bike with the exception of using a RoadLink to extend the rear derailleur because I was using an 11-40 cassette.
Yes, this is an unusual configuration; but once I got it installed, the shifting was so smooth and predictable. Due to the long shift cable necessary in a standard tandem, sometimes the shifts were not quite as smooth as I would have liked. Now with the SRAM eTap, there is no hesitation or indecisive shifting at all. Highly recommended.
In addition, Worldwide Cyclery has been very helpful to me with a component issue and made sure my problem was taken care of. I would not hesitate to purchase other items from them; they provided great service and prompt responses to all my concerns.
