The RockShox Recon Silver RL Solo Air fork can be a quick and easy upgrade from the stock suspension fork on your bike. Here in this review, one of our customers Jacob Sanders swapped out the stock SR Suntour fork for the Recon fork from Rockshox. Read more to see how he likes the new fork.
As a new rider I was wanting the best, yet affordable, fork I could get. My first choice was going to be the Rockshox 100mm coil fork. I’m a bigger guy at 6’ft 260lbs, and my worry was that the coil would not withstand the abuse that I would put on it. So I chose the RockShox Recon Silver RL Solo Air model instead. And I couldn’t be more happy with it.
Being able to adjust the air pressure for my weight and style of riding that I want to do (mainly XC) was perfect for me. Also having the option to adjust the rebound was a huge plus. I had the opportunity to finally test this fork out at a bike park just a few hours away from me here in Louisiana, and it performed flawlessly. The fork was a very welcomed change over from the stock SR Suntour fork that came on my 2014 Specialized Hardrock. The way the fork and 29” wheels were able to smooth out all the big roots and drops, made me feel much more comfortable and daring. I felt like I could confidently push myself to do more and become better.
With all that said, this fork was an awesome upgrade and I would recommend it to anyone looking for something to help them progress just a little further and ride a little harder for not much of an investment.
