Protecting your body while mountain biking is essential if you plan on being in the sport long term. The less damage you take, the more you can be on riding! Fortunately, POC makes some of the best protective gear on the market. Our customer Matt is here to share his thoughts on the POC Joint VPD 2.0 Knee Guard. Check it out!
What’s Going on my fellow Mountain Bike peeps! Today I wanted to take the time to put together My Opinions, Comparisons and In depth thoughts on the best Knee Pad ever made! The POC Joint VPD 2.0 Knee Guard. And No, POC is not paying me to say this. Yes, this may be a bold statement but I stand behind what I say.
I’ve now been riding the POC Joint VPD 2.0 Protective Knee Guard for roughly 2 months now.All I can say is Thank you POC. POC represents the “Opps… Oh Shit, Oh shit…No No Nooo” moments, keeping us safe when the unpredictable happens out on the trail. I know, we are all Superhero’s but going down still happens. Mother nature will get ya!
My opinion of the POC knee guards are overall a 4 out of 5. 5 out of 5 is impossible in my opinion because things can always be improved. That being said, I love the way these stay up on my legs. The gummy top elastic keep these bad boys staying up in place, without falling down to create a FiveTen Shoe guard, sending me into that pine tree that Jerry always clips, sending him home with a mouth full of the universes finest dirt know to mankind!! I also love how after a few sessions of riding, the VPD system starts to like recognize your knees some how, Very scientific, and gets more and more comfortable as you shred. I believe VPD stands for Vegan Pad Design because the material doesn’t come from animals like leather. I love the Black/Green/White look. Velcro’s are well constructed and will not rip off like your partner`s undies. Padded Protection has your back as you fly through the air with confidence. These knee pads wont let you down! Unlike Jerry who is always forgetting the ice for the post ride Beers. Dammit Jerry, You had one job!
Previously I used the Dakine Slayer Knee Pads and loved them, until 1 months of riding. Sorry Dakine, I still love ya! The interior pad started fighting with my knee cap, buckling and causing pain no matter how loud I would yell at it to “Knock It Off”!!! People started looking at me strange wile ripping through the trail… Lets talk about the price. Sure, they are expensive but you will be glad you invested in them as you forget they are on while shredding the Gnarr. You are worth it and so are these!! I fit the large size pretty well. They even dry fast and surprisingly don’t smell bad after a long ride. I cant wait to try these in the warmer summer months. They also don’t chafe up my legs like a G-string Banana Hammock worn on a beach.
This has been a game changer in my books. Thanks POC, I love you!! Only thing, I still haven’t located the Stash Pocket….. Get it…. HAHAHA.
