Muc-Off Silicon Shine Lube Review

I recently purchased the Muc-Off Silicon Shine Lube and could not be happier with the results. I recently did a huge overhaul on my 2014 Kona Process 134 as it was beginning to act its age. I decided to rebuild the bike adding a new drive train, suspension rebuild, and a few other upgrades the bike felt a brand new ride. The frame, however, still looked like a 6-year-old bike which I wasn’t a huge fan of. After some research, I found the Muc-Off Silicone Shine Lube. Muc-Off’s description says that it will “leave your bike looking factory fresh” and they are not wrong. After a few paint touch-ups with some nail polish pain and application of the Silicone Shine Lube I was blown away with the appearance of my bike. It really looks like a brand new bike.

I have received a lot of compliments on my bike since the rebuild and believe that, as with most things, the appearance and not the new components are what people are complementing. The added bonus of the protective qualities of the Lube is fantastic as well. After the rebuild, I took the bike on several rides and my bike after each of them looked significantly less dirty as compared to my riding partners.

Dust doesn’t want to stick to it and any mud comes off easily. Washing the bike after rides is also noticeably easier, generally just needed a quick spray down instead of scrubbing the whole thing.

A recent ride I went on I found a spring and got into the nastiest mud I have ever seen. It stuck so badly to my tires that it jammed my front wheel requiring me to removed my wheels and clean them before continuing on. Components on my bike that had been treated with the Silicone Shine Lube were very easily cleaned requiring just a little brush action to peel off all the dried on clay/mud.

The components that had not been treated took a lot of elbow grease and time to get that nasty mud off of them. The other claim on Muc-Off’s page of “silky smooth” performance is spot on as well. After rebuilding the suspension I could tell a huge difference in the performance right out of the box, after a few rides the feel felt different but was brought right back to the “silky smooth” new feel with an application of the Muc-Off Silicon Shine Lube. The Silicon Shine Lube also works amazingly on my wives brand new Juliana. It really makes the bike pop, even though it's only a few weeks old.
