Riders have a ton of options when it comes to the budget fork category. Manitou is one of the more popular brands in this segment and forks like their Machete comp illustrate why. Our customer Samuel got his Trek dialed with his new Manitou fork. Check out his review!
I chose this fork because it was the best fork that fit my 1 1/8" non-tapered headset. It was a major upgrade compared to the fork that came on my Marlin 6 (Suntour XCT 30 HLO). I had trouble finding a 120mm travel, 1 1/8th" non-tapered fork with adjustable rebound, and I think this is one of the only ones. I was also attracted to the style of the fork - Manitou's reverse arch design is distinctive and I think it looks awesome
The fork came adequately packaged, complete with decals and some instructions. The fork was super clean and had a very solid build quality. I had my LBS install the fork for me and it cost around $40.
On my first ride, I immediately noticed a huge difference compared to my stock Suntour fork. Very plush, and the adjustable rebound works perfectly. The fork is easy to adjust, and I recommend purchasing a shock pump to make sure your forks are totally dialed.
I've been riding the Manitou Machete fork for about two months now, and its probably the most significant upgrade to my bike. If you've got a 1 1/8" steer tube and QR axles and wanna upgrade your fork, look no further. This fork is awesome.
