Industry Nine is one of the first names that comes to mind when upgrading wheels. I9 offers their Enduro S 1/1 at a very good price and durability while still keeping that high engagement I9 is known for. Our friend, Darrell, just threw some new shoes on their bike. See what they think!
I picked up a set of these rad wheels mainly to get an increase in ID width and not pick up the extra weight in doing so. After doing a little bit of research, and thanks to the guys at Worldwide Cyclery (Kudos! Your videos are super informative.) I decided to go with the Industry Nine Enduro 101 wheelset. These wheels are awesome! Granted I have always stuck around this price line, I feel like I got away with more than I thought I was getting for the price.
The stiffness of these bad boys is unreal.
Along with a wider inner width and some 2.6's I have been able to tackle some of the more techy terrains with a lot more confidence. These things can take a beating as well. I tend to ride In rocky terrain and I have heard "pings" from hitting some rough sections probably a little faster than I should. I'd hop off my bike to see if I damaged it and... Nope. I have not seen a ding on the rims yet...Tough!
Lastly, watching the vlog about this wheelset I saw how the hub body setup is different from other wheels. If you are looking for the louder "click" from the freehub body you definitely won't get that with these wheels, but you can definitely hear the greater points of engagement that the video described. I've had problems with the pawls in the hubs of other wheels, not naming names (Stan's, ahem) completely shearing, and leaving me stranded in the middle of nowhere (center of everywhere). I anticipate this hub being more durable due to the greater points of engagement.
I could go on and on about how stoked I am with this wheelset, I've been having a blast riding down the mountain. The confidence you get from having a durable and responsive wheelset is definitely worth it. Thanks for the video fellas it was spot on.
