Ergon SMC4-M Comp Gel Saddle: Rider Review

Overview

I have been chasing the dragon ever since I sought a replacement for my WTB Pure V saddle and saw that WTB doesn't make it anymore! After a few expensive saddles that felt like a dull axe blade on my undercarriage. I decided to purchase this saddle after hearing nothing but good reviews. I went to Ergon's website, punched in my measurements and the style of riding I plan to do and it recommended me this saddle, the Ergon SMC4-M which was designed for comfort on long rides. I plan on doing some bikepacking and long rides that have a mix of both on and off-road.

Final Thoughts

Overall I'm very happy with this saddle. It is very comfortable and I have yet to experience the typical sore butt syndrome from a long ride on a brick like saddle. My only gripe is that the nose of the saddle is a bit too long and catches on my shorts occasionally. Keep in mind, however that this saddle wasn't designed entirely for going on and off the saddle all day at the bike park. It was designed to be sat on all day without coming off too much, which is perfect for the Santa Cruz Carbon Chameleon I put it on.
