This review was written by one of our customers who recently just outfitted his Evil Insurgent with the new Sram XO1 Eagle derailleur and shifter. This bike looks and performs killer! Check it out.

I recently built up an Evil Insurgent for racing the California Enduro Series and I wanted a drivetrain that would give me more range and the ability to climb the slack geo that the Insurgent offers. Coming off a 2016 Santa Cruz 5010 CC that was an exceptional climber, I struggled with drivetrain shifting properly and a lack of durability with Shimano XTR.
When the time came to make a decision on a drivetrain, I went with the SRAM Eagle. Worldwide Cyclery did an insane job answering questions I had about running a Race Face crank and Race Face chainring and mating it to the SRAM cassette (pie plate) out back.
I purchased the SRAM Eagle XO1 Rear Derailleur and X01 Eagle Shifter – all black to keep the Evil theme rollin. Having ridden the bike for 10 days straight now in a variety of conditions and CA winter slop, I couldn’t be more stoked! It is built super tough and the jockey wheel is practically the size of a ninja star. In the past I snapped derailleur cables, and the X01 Eagle SRAM has a shroud that tucks the cable away from grime and mud. Super amped on the service at WC and the XO1 Eagle setup!
