The Evil Insurgent is built to shred trails and go fast! In this review, Daniel Parelskin talks about getting his new Insurgent frame from Worldwide Cyclery, how he was at first hesitant to getting another 27.5" trail bike, and how the Insurgent has transformed his riding experience. Check it out!
I recently purchased an Evil 'The Insurgent' after spending the last 3 years on short travel 29'ers and swearing I would never buy a 27.5 bike again. Having moved to Bellingham in the last year, I have felt outgunned on a number of occasions and the long, slack geometry with the extra 160/150 travel became more attractive as I found myself on steeper, sketchier terrain.
Worldwide Cyclery made it easy to order and shipped to my doorstep in no time. I built the Evil up in the XLOW mode and took it to my least favorite descent to see if it would add confidence... Instant difference, the steeper it got, the more the Insurgent came to life! I really found a new passion for descents on the first ride, took it to another trail and felt the same!
When I am doing a more all-around ride, I run it in the "LOW" mode to get some extra clearance on the rockier, heavily rooted single track as in XLOW it tends to pedal strike some of the many characteristic single track features seen in Bellingham. LOW mode also provides a good climbing position in terms of Head Angle and Seat tube position. Either mode flies up the long logging roads with ease as the Delta platform holds true to its design and minimizes pedal bob.
The Evil Insurgent and Worldwide Cyclery really delivered. I found the exact bike I was looking for at a great value and have begun to expand my comfort zone on descents!
