SRAM XX1 Eagle Cassette

Overview

I have a 2018 Specialized Stumpjumper which came with the standard or what will call "basic" parts. After two years of owning the bike, I was faced with the option of either buying a new decked out bike, or upgrading my existing bicycle with higher quality, durable and lighter components. Luckily for me, my brother told me about Worldwide Cyclery. The selection and wide availability of parts on worldwidecyclery.com was mind blowing. It was pretty challenging finding components in stock and getting them in a timely manner due to the supply chain bottleneck, following the pandemic. Keep in mind that this was not isolated to worldwide cyclery; it was a global supply chain issue That was most definitely a challenging time to embark on a bike upgrade project, but I did it anyway.

SRAM XX1 Eagle Cassette

Worldwide Cyclery had all of the parts that I needed. I upgraded almost everything including my, rotors, saddle, stem, derailleur, cassette, wheels, tires, cranks, and grips. On the cassette, I went with the Sram XX1 Eagle AXS in gold. I paired it up with a gold chain from SRAM as well. I am very happy with the upgrade. I have not had any issues with rust. My shifts are crisp and quiet. Aesthetically, the cassette is eye-catching and gets a lot of attention on the trails. People ask me all the time about what kind of derailleur I am rocking. This is by far the lightest and best derailleur that I have ever had on a bike and I am super delighted that I did not go for anything less.

The stock cassette that came with my bicycle is nothing compared to this. Anytime I rode with the basic stock cassette in wet conditions, I would always have rust/corrosion issues. With the XX1 Eagle AXS Gold cassette, rust/corrosion is not an issue, based on my experience. I have ridden in wet and rainy conditions several times, gotten home, lightly rinsed off the bike and let it sit and I have not had any issues whatsoever. It is amazing! I don’t know if this is luck or not, but I have also noticed that I use far less lube on this vs. my prior cassette/chain combo. Obviously riding conditions do play a part here.

If you are hesitant to try this out, there is no reason to be skeptical. It is worth every penny. Ask yourself the question “go cheap and replace soon, or pay a reasonable price for a quality product, get the aesthetics, quality, durability and be happy in the long run. When it comes to biking components, I do not compromise. The best part of the whole experience is purchasing directly from Worldwide Cyclery because you know that you are always getting quality and genuine products, similar to if you were purchasing directly from the manufacturer.

Final Thoughts

Outside of the quality and amazing product, I have to give a shout out to the guys over at Worldwide Cyclery. They are always kind and willing to help out with answering questions. Anytime I had a question and emailed, did the online chat, or called, they always got back to me timely with very helpful answers and information.
