Cranks have become very durable over the years. It has now become a part that can cut a lot of weight. SRAM also decided to make the DUB spindle interface to be very compatible with all bikes. Our customer has been running the GX cranks. See what they think!
This year I decided to buy a Transition scout, that's my baby on the trails and I could not be happier.
I've been a SRAM guy for years. My Transition Scout came with Shimano XT cranks which are great in themselves, but I was already planning on swapping them out for SRAM Eagle groupset.
But because of the pandemic, and the shortage I had to wait to purchase the sram drivetrain. But once I noticed that worldwide Cyclery had them in stock, I ended up going with the groupset of the Sram Eagle drivetrain, and I couldn't be happier with their performance so far! Upon receiving them, I immediately noticed the "burliness" of the Sram Eagle cranks. I'm stoked with the design and lunar color on them, which matches my Transition Scout frame tan color.
I installed the Sram Eagle cranks and followed the instructions and went for a ride. The install was straight forward.
The first ride out I immediately noticed the difference on the feel on my sram Eagle cranks compare to the shimano XT cranks. I'm happy with their performance so far, and also the look that it has on my bike.
I also notice the 32t chainring more efficient. Overall the crankset is lighter and stronger. I also wanted a shorter crank, because my trails that I ride, couple of time I have ran into rocks and my previous cranks are longer 175, so I went with the 170 length sram cranks
Talking of SRAM’s X-Sync chainring, the GX uses the brand’s sophisticated tooth profile, though, that translates to smoother pedalling.
The finish of the SRAM GX Eagle DUB Alloy crank is good and there’s a really solid drive under power.
Have in mind that Sram sells the GX Eagle groupset as a full kit or you can buy the cassette, rear derailleur, chain, shifter, and crankset separately if you don't need the full SRAM groupset. What's great about the GX Eagle groupset vs the higher end X01 and XX1 models is that shifting quality is extremely similar with some people not being able to tell a difference between the GX drivetrain and the more expensive options. If you haven't jumped on the 12 speed bandwagon what are you waiting for,
You will not regret.
Overall, first impressions are good. Considering my success with Eagle in general. I personally will recommend this sram Eagle gx crankset to any one that wants to upgrade.
