SRAM's brakes are arguably some of the best brakes money can buy. They are easy to install, priced reasonably, and have a lot of modulation. Their adjustability is hands down a golden standard. Our buddy, Charles, has been running the brakes. See what they think!
This brake set is flat out the best setup I’ve had to date! SRAM does a great job on the G2 RSC brake sets with the contact adjustment, reach adjustment, and the swing link technology. They are extremely easy to set up and will be able to perfectly match your hand size and desired feel. The matchmaker clamp system works very well and cleaned up my cockpit for sure. No more cramming clamps against my grips!
SRAM pre-bleeds the brake sets but unless your bike is externally routed and the cables are the perfect length already, (they are long so you better be a beanstalk fella on an XXL) you are going to have to trim them up a bit. The set comes with extra olives and hose barbs to do the job right which I greatly appreciated. The kit also comes with a variety of tools you will need to get them dialed in. The only other thing you would need to fully set these up is a brake bleed kit (SRAM also sells a full bleed kit ready to rock).
Now as for the brake feel, these things are SMOOTH as butter, have impeccable modularity, and have the power to stop a dump truck running down the steepest of hills. All my buddies are always geeking over my brakes for their sexy matte finish. There is hardly any lever play in these brakes which is great if you ride the chundery stuff.
The swing link SRAM has designed into the lever makes helps with the travel leading up to the pad biting and keeps you from locking up in the loose. There is none of the on or off feeling you typically get when applying Shimano brakes. This feature alone sets SRAM on top of the braking world for me! Even though the modularity on this system is great you still have the power to get the rig stopped fast!
These brakes are paired with 180 centerline rotors on the front and 160 centerline rotors on the back of my trail bike and I have never felt like I needed more brakes when bombing the descents in North Carolina. As for the durability of these brakes, I can’t say very much as I’ve only been riding on them for three months but they still feel as good as the day I bled them! The guys at Worldwide Cyclery were super helpful and always do a great job of answering my questions! They are fast to fulfill your order, get it packaged and sent to your doorstep! They also send you notifications every time your package gets to the next step in the order process so you are never stuck wondering where your order is!
10/10 would recommend the Sram G2 brakes of any level and hands down would recommend ordering them through Worldwide Cyclery! You can’t go wrong here! My one-stop-shop for all my bike needs from here on out! Thanks, everyone!
