One of the best upgrades you can make on your mountain bike is upgrading your brakes to get more stopping power. Thankfully, SRAM makes the Code series brakes that are built to withstand the most demanding riding conditions. Check out what our friend Saul thinks of them!
I purchase a set of the Sram code R Disc brakes. I Picked the Codes because I’ve heard they have great power and reliability. And my friends run these brakes and are happy with the performance.
So far they have been good and comparing them to the previous brakes I had. I really love how they work, I have instant brake stop and also I like the look on my new build. I installed them on my Transition scout and the brakes are awesome. Especially for the kind of riding I do, I feel secure when coming down the steep hills, there is absolutely no lack of power over long, steep descents even when you are heading towards the corners a little too fast.
And when I do any of the jumps at the park there is great. Before I had the XT brakes and now that I have tried the code R brakes I will not go back.
In my opinion, the Sram Code R is a powerful trail/enduro brake, offering great modulation. And the Sram code disc brakes provide the means to slow down for all those riders that like to ride harder, faster, and with more intensity.
I think the reason it’s a heavy-duty brake, is because it comes with a 4-pistón caliper with an expanded piggyback reservoir to increase power and heat dissipation capabilities.
Also, enjoy the matchmaker compatible mount option, I have the shifter in the same clamp as the Code R brakes, and on the left side, I have the wolf tooth dropper post remote with the SRAM matchmaker mount. It keeps my handlebar clean.
Awesome breaks more than I expected in regards to performance, in deed it’s a great upgrade for any bike in a budget-friendly package.
