RockShox offers a wide range of rear shocks. For the XC/Trail side of things, RockShox has the Deluxe shock to tackle the hard climbs and rough terrain. Our friend, Cody, just installed one onto their bike. See what they thought in their review!
I recently purchased a RockShox Deluxe Ultimate RCT rear shock for my 2019 Specialized Stumpjumper st full suspension mountain bike. The Stumpjumper I bought is the base model and came with an x fusion rear shock. After just a couple of rides, I quickly realized the x fusion rear shock was not going to cut it. I searched the web for weeks trying to figure out which rear shock would be the best for me. I reached out to Worldwide Cyclery for help.
Trying to find the right size for my bike was very confusing. On top of that, the size my bike uses seems to be not very common. The guys at Worldwide Cyclery were very helpful. After talking with them I decided on the RockShox Deluxe Ultimate RCT rear shock. The fork that came on my bike is a RockShox Recon so I was happy to stick with the same brand for the rear shock. The Recon is pretty entry level so I’ve already been talking to the guys at WC about upgrading that. Of course, they’ve been very helpful.
The new rear shock that I bought seems to be a pretty good improvement over the one that came stock on my bike. The stock shock seemed to be more like a pogo stick than a shock. Sure, it absorbed the hits but after riding the new shock it’s night and day.
My new RockShox rear shock doesn’t just absorb the hits.. it takes them and begs for more.
Being new to the sport of mountain biking, I’m very thankful that there's a group of guys like the guys at WC that I can reach out to with any type of questions I may have. They were also very helpful when it came to installing the new rear shock. I thought for sure I’d have to take my bike into a local bike shop to have them install the new rear shock for me. But, after talking to the guys at WC, I felt confident enough to install the new rear shock on my own. After about 15-20 min the new shock was installed and ready to hit my local trails.
I can not express in words how happy I am with my bike now. My local bike shop doesn’t always stock all the stuff I’m really interested in. So, having a website and a group of guys I can communicate to about what I’m looking for and what I need is just so fantastic. Thank you Worldwide Cyclery! I will be placing my next order very soon!
