Magura is very well known for making really well made brakes that have great power with modulation. Their years in the Motorcycle industry really proves this as well. Our customer has been testing out their MT7 brakes. See what they think!
Recently I just purchased 2 Magura mt7 pro brake sets. It shipped really quickly and came all nicely packaged up with lots of spare fittings and everything else you might need to install the brakes. A nice thing that magura does is that they can be used front or rear, meaning that you can just purchase 2 of the same and not have to worry about stock. You just have to order two. That meant when the brakes came, they were both super long, which wasn’t an issue since it was very simple to just cut down the hose with a very easy to follow video from magura.
I’ve had the brakes installed for about 2 weeks and have had about 125 miles on them, and they have tons of stopping power(once pads a broken in a little bit. The brakes work great, easy to install, and have amazing power, modulation, and all the adjustments make it so perfect to get the perfect race setup. I would recommend these brakes to anyone who’s looking for brakes for any enduro/dh bike.
A quick install process to walk through so everyone knows how easy the install was. First I took out the travel stoppers in the piston, so the pads could move freely. Then I pulled the brake lever until the pads were clamped together. By doing that when I cut the cable there was excess fluid that just needed to be let out once it was all attached. Then I cut the cable 5” from the lever. Then I cut the hose to my desired length, with a scissors. The next step was to insert the olive and barb. First went the olive. Then I clamped the hose in a vice grip, and hammered the olive into the hose until there was no more movement from the olive going into the hose. Once I did that I was able to reconnect the hose to the lever.
Then I opened the bleed screw, and pushed open the pads at the same time. By doing that all the excess fluid was released from the pistons and was all clear all at the lever. There was a little fluid that came out. But a small sacrifice so that I didn’t even need to bleed the brakes at all upon install.
The way that magura engineered this product made it super simple to purchase as the lever works/looks good both upside and upside down, makes so much sense, and I’m not even sure why other companies aren’t doing the same. The install method was very simple as I had a guide form magura YouTube to guide me through each step on installation. The way magura was able to include the extra pets made it so I could cut my hose down 3 times per brake, so I could play around with my ideal distance.
Magura brakes also have a lot more power and modulation that other brakes at the same price range or even higher. With all these Pro’s it’s a no brainer for me to purchase magura brakes in the future. Exspecually when I got the great on sale price from worldwide cyclery, that had fast ship out and shipping even to Canada!
