Industry Nine 1/1 S customer bike

Intro

I purchased a pair of the Industry Nine 1/1 29” wheels for my new custom build 2021 specialized s-works carbon bike build. I went with the metallic green color in the S4 size (which is basically a large) This was a project I recently decided to take on due to how hard it was to buy a new bike with what I wanted. I must say the experience was very fulfilling and I learned a lot about how a mountain bike works.

Finding the right wheelset

As for the wheels, I did a lot of research and came across the Industry Nine 1/1 Enduro S wheelset as my best option in the under $1,000 range. They look great and so far have been very durable. I’ve been riding on them about 2-3 times per week and mostly trail riding. I have no doubt they would hold up at the bike park or any other terrain. I personally like the added durability and value of an aluminum rim. The Industry Nine 1/1 hubs are great and have a ton of engagement. I really like the sound they make and the ride they provide.
The rims came perfectly taped and with valve stems so they were completely tubeless-ready.
Although I did replace the valve steam with some yellow ones to coordinate with my pedals. I ended up putting the Maxxis 2.4” DHF EXO on the front and the Maxxis 2.4” aggressor EXO on the rear tire. Totally happy with the purchase!

The Build

For the rest of the build, I used the Shimano XT 1x12 drivetrain, 170 mm aluminum XT cranks, and a black KMC 12-speed chain. My bike has 130 mm travel in the rear and 140 mm at the fork with a Fox Suspension 34 FIT4 fork. I went with the PNW 170 mm dropper post with a wolf tooth lever. Shimano XT brakes with 180 mm rotors. And I got the I-SPEC adapters to get all my levers organized and on 2 clamps. For final details, I went with the Brendog death grip camp with flashes grips and some race face Chester mustard yellow composite pedals. After a couple of tries, I went with an enduro seat by Ergon. Total weight came in at 29 lbs. The total build took about 2 weeks to complete and tons of research to get all the compatible parts. I’m now on to the next project of building a custom bike for my wife. I am going with a cheaper wheel for her since she doesn’t ride as hard as me and is much lighter.

Conclusion

I would recommend the Industry Nine 1/1 Enduro S Wheelset and definitely their hubs to anyone! For my next build, If I have a higher budget I would like to try their carbon wheels They look and sound great!
