The Fox Factory Transfer dropper post is one of the most recognizable in the mountain bike world. The Kashima gold looks incredible and adds a new bling factor to any bike. In this review, our customer Michael went with a 200mm Fox Factory Transfer dropper. Check out what he had to say!

Overview:

Some argue that the modern mountain bike is defined as lower, slacker, and longer. I think while all of those innovations rock, a dropper post is a non-negotiable on a bike!

Comparison:

I recently purchased a V2 Transition Sentinel that came equipped with a 210mm OneUp Dropper. I appreciate that the OneUp post allowed for DIY maintenance and tuning, however for me it fell short in a few areas. After every wash, I noticed that the OneUp post lost its smoothness and had to be lubricated with stanchion lube. Before needing to service my OneUp Post, the post sometimes wouldn’t return to the top so I’d have to pull up on the nose of my saddle to get full extension. I also noticed that with the Wolf Tooth Dropper lever, the lever press was relatively more difficult.

Fox Post:

The day Fox introduced a 200mm Transfer Dropper post, I knew I had to make the change. My favorite place to order parts of course had it in stock immediately! Shout out Worldwide Cyclery! Of course, getting it in Kashima to match my fork and shock was a no brainer!

The redesigned seat clamp is super tidy and it allows the clamp to nearly disappear while the saddle is down! The clamp design is superior to the old style and feels easier to adjust the pitch of your saddle. Another thing I love about the transfer post is the markings on it so you can sort out saddle height. If you’re anything like me, you under torque the seat collar by accident, and the post moves on that first ride or two! Having clear markings on the post helps me quickly get it positioned right where I need it.

With the 200mm post, I was able to still accomplish insane levels of seat drop but get that fox reliability. The Fox Transfer post is silky, and I mean silky smooth! Using the same wolf tooth lever, the lever press is roughly 25% lighter than it was on the OneUp. The Fox Factory Transfer post gives you insane control and support at any height, which is required for any technical climbing. The overall length of this dropper allows for maximum insertion and tons of saddle drop for the rowdiest of descents.

The Kashima coating is super durable and after riding in snow and mud with rocks flying, the coating looks perfect and is slick as butter!

The final thing that I love about this dropper post is the most positive noise when the post returns to the top. If you know you know! The return on this post is more comforting than a session with your therapist under a weighted blanket!

Final Thoughts

If you care about bombproof reliability, looking awesome, and shredding the gnar, this is the dropper post for you.
