Cane Creek's New eeWings Crankset (Full Titanium Crankset)

If you are not at Sea Otter this year then the chances are that you are not going to be holding a pair of these pieces of true craftsmanship between your fingers. Cane Creek is known for creating nothing but the best and has added an all-new product to their line up. New for 2018 is a premium Crankset which will be named the eeWings. Setting these apart from the rest of the market is the unique design of a completely high-grade titanium crank. Weighing in at only 400 grams this crank still holds true to the name of Cane Creek in terms of stiffness and durability.

This leaves the eeWings in the same weight class as the popular carbon cranks on the market today, BUT also giving the rider a 20-30% stiffer standing platform. This means they are not just your average Titanium cranks you would see on your average weight weenie bike. These are built to withstand the tests of true and aggressive trail and/or Enduro Riders. To back these claims, Cane Creek is supporting each set of eeWings with a 10-year limited warranty! Talk about standing by your products.

In terms of specifications, Cane Creek kept to today's standards and introduced a common 30mm spindle that is compatible with BSA73mm, PF92/PF89.5, 392EVO bottom brackets as well as PF30 and BB30 bottom brackets with outboard bearing configurations. The eeWings also include an innovative new CNC machined aluminum preloader that is compatible with multiple other high-end 30mm spindle cranks - providing a more durable solution over preloaders from other manufacturers, which are often made from plastic or other less durable materials.

Brent Graves, the President and CEO of Cane Creek couldn’t have said it any better, “When we first set out to make a crankset we knew we wanted to create something that really pushed boundaries and deserved the ee designation, That meant not cutting a single corner, using the best materials regardless of cost and holding ourselves to the highest standards of testing and design, We’ve done those things and it’s resulted in a truly exceptional product that we’re all very proud of.”

The eeWings were developed in collaboration with revolutionary components designer Craig Edwards and represent the first major expansion of Cane Creek’s line of ee products. Edwards joined the Cane Creek team in October of 2016 as part of an exclusive deal for the company to take over manufacturing and distribution of his ultra-light eeBrake. The eeWings are Cane Creek’s first entry into the crankset category, however, they are familiar territory for Edwards who, in the 1990’s, designed the Sweetwings – a revolutionary hollow steel crankset that was years ahead of its time and set a course for bicycle crank development as we know it today.

eeWings come in a subdued, brushed titanium finish with only a minimalistic laser-etched graphic on the face of the crank. In addition to allowing the titanium to take center stage aesthetically, this simple design will allow riders to use Scotch-Brite or a similar abrasive to remove small scratches and blemishes that accumulate in the finish over time and use. Retail value is said to start at $999 and should be available for purchase just after Sea Otter 2018.
