2017 Michelin Mountain Bike Tire Lineup - Four New Tires

Check out the new line of Michelin mountain bike tires! For 2017, Michelin has a completely new range of four mountain bike tires with any trail and all conditions in mind; the JETxcr, FORCExc, FORCEam, and WILDam. Michelin is set to release these tires on May 1st so keep you eyes peeled for these new meats on our site!

2017 Michelin Mountain Bike Lineup - Four New Tires

  • The JETxcr is what Michelin calls the fastest tire! This tire is designed for cross country race applications, especially useful for those hard pack dry conditions. Out of the four tires Michelin has launched, the JETxcr is the fastest rolling and lightest of the group weighing less than 600 grams!
  • JETxcr features what Michelin is calling a Race Shield tire casing using 150TPI high density fibers. This allows the tire to remain extremely light while still maintaining puncture resistance.
  • The JETxcr is formed using GUM X2D, utilizing two rubber compounds. A harder rubber compound underneath the tread and a firm compound on the outside of the tire. This design maximizes rolling speed, tire grip, and brake control.

  • The FORCExc tire is Michelin’s new intermediate cross country tire that can be used in mixed conditions. The FORCExc tire is perfect for both cross country racing in wet and soft conditions as well as the casual weekend cross country rider. This tire may be a little slower rolling than the JETxcr but remains more versatile.
  • FORCExc features Cross Shield tire casing using 110TPI high density fibers. This design gives the tire a long life while remaining strong and lightweight.
  • Michelin’s GUM rubber runs throughout the entire line. The FORCExc uses a GUM X3D composition, featuring the same race compound underneath, a firm rubber compound in the center of the tread, and a soft rubber compound used on the side knobs of the tire for more cornering grip.

2017 Michelin Mountain Bike Lineup - Four New Tires

  • Michelin claims the new FORCEam tire is their most agile all mountain tire they have ever produced. The FORCEam is the big brother to the FORCExc. With larger lugs and a larger volume tire, the FORCEam looks like a perfect match for any trail bike adventure.
  • FORCEam features the Trail Shield tire casing with 60TPI high density fibers. This reinforced construction is designed to be stronger and more puncture resistant.
  • Just like the FORCExc, the FORCEam uses the GUM X3D rubber compound layout. The hard rubber compound base distributes pedal power across the tire, while the firm and soft compounds used on the tread and cornering knobs are designed for maximum brake control and cornering grip.

2017 Michelin Mountain Bike Lineup - Four New Tires

  • The 2017 mountain bike tire lineup from Michelin is rounded out with the WILDam, the most aggressive tire of the group. The WILDam uses a meaty lug pattern with what looks like great knob spacing, great for maximizing grip while clearing mud in wet conditions. The WILDam can be found on Enduro World Series bikes, ridden in some of the most demanding races around the world.
  • The WILDam uses the same Trail Shield tire casing and GUM X3D rubber compounds found on the FORCEam tire. At Worldwide Cyclery, we are most excited about trying out the WILDam tire!
