Did OneUp Just Make The Worlds Best Dropper Post? 

OneUp Components has introduced their 3rd generation dropper post to the market, the OneUp Components Dropper Seatpost V3. After a successful few years aboard their award winning V2 dropper, the company out of Squamish, BC has made some key changes to their V3 post. Oneup has made their new dropper post lighter, longer travel, smoother and more reliable than their previous offering. They also claim to have the shortest stack, yet longest length of any post currently available. Let’s get into some details. 

What’s New 

The main difference between the V2 and V3 posts comes from a new, fully sealed hydraulic cartridge. This means no more inflating your post or adjusting air pressure, dramatic weight savings, and a smoother post all around. The remote lever takes 75% less force to actuate the post and less breakaway feel, something that was immediately noticeable on the previous gen. Bushings and a customer SKF wiper seal have been upgraded to decrease friction and keep dirt and grime out of the internals. Also, the anti-rotation pins have been doubled along with 2 new oversized polymer pins to keep lateral play to a minimum and the post dead quiet. 

The weight of this V3 post is seriously impressive and is something to keep in mind when buying your next dropper post. At 515g (180mm 30.9) this is one of the lightest dropper posts on the market. To put this into perspective, Fox’s Transfer SL 2-position lightweight post is 60g heavier than OneUp's new V3 dropper! It is also 238g (.5lb) lighter than a Reverb AXS and 155g lighter than Fox Transfer post. They are also offering a Ti Bolt upgrade for 10g of additional savings.

Service and Maintenance

Because of the new sealed cartridge, the V3 post will need much less maintenance to keep working the same. There is no need to send out your post to get serviced as the post can be disassembled with a 14mm wrench, 5mm hex and 2mm hex, tools that are all stock on their multi-tool. 

Final Thoughts

OneUp has done a great job at challenging the dropper post market by exceeding the limits of their posts. Their V2 dropper post was already great but could be improved in some minor ways. The V3 dropper post has pushed expectations by introducing one of lightest, smoothest, reliable and most usable posts on the market at a great price point that doesn’t break the bank. This is a post that we would recommend for anyone struggling with their existing post, or want to save weight and have an option that will perform better than their counterparts.
