V2 of the Evil ‘The Following’ has dropped, dubbed the Following MB, and who wouldn’t want more better’er. In true Evil fashion, the kept the party going by making the frame a little longer and a little stiffer, while keeping the head angle and BB the same. We’re totally fine with that because when we rode the V1 Following fully torqued, we had a grand old time!
So what are the main changes we can look forward to in this party animal? The first noticeable change will be the addition of the trunion mounted piggy-back shock which allows the shock to run two of Evil’s linkage bearings, which in turn will make the initial stroke smoother while allowing the suspension to be more active throughout the travel. So in other words, way more better’er. Geometry was only tweaked ever so slightly with the new Following with an additional 20mm of reach which lends to a longer and more stable wheelbase, going from 1142mm to 1159mm (taken from size M). Also note, the short chainstays stayed…..short! These guys are still sitting at the 430mm mark.
Boost spacing is the other obvious change here, but the not so obvious is that the Following MB now has the superpowers to run those plus size tire thingies. So along with the wagon wheels, you can throw some 27.5”+ tires on here with the widest width accepted being a 2.8 incher. Evil was also able to stiffen up this stellar rig by switching to a 1x only drivetrain set up which looks a whole lot cleaner. This frame comes in two radical new colors - smashing pumpkin and drunken olive.
We’re super excited to hop on this bad boy and will have a review out as soon as we have enough party time on this machine! In the meantime, check out this shredtastic video featuring the Following MB.
