Ride 5Dev Trail/Enduro Crankset [Rider Review]

Our "Rider Review" article series features the honest reviews from verified purchasers of Worldwide Cyclery. They contain the photos, thoughts, feedback & overall review you are looking for.

Let's all admit it. Cranksets were all starting to look the same and feel the same. Not until 5Dev came along with their crankset. It's an understatement to say that their cranks look unique. But they're also really stiff! Our friend, Aaron, has been running them. See what they think!

Overview

I'm seriously in love with these cranks. Definitely one of, if not, the coolest bike components I've ever seen. These are surely the type of bike candy that will make your riding buddies and everyone else on the trails envious.

I purchased these cranks because I wanted some 170mm length cranks for my bike as my YT Izzo came in stock with 175mm length cranks. I was tired of the stock cranks hitting various trail obstacles and figured the shorter cranks would help with this. I also didn't want to buy carbon cranks as I was afraid of their longevity, plus, they aren't shiny like these! I was browsing for the right cranks and spotted these 5Dev ones and absolutely fell in love. So dope! The 500$ price was a little steep to swallow but I feel these cranks are well worth the price. They are fairly lightweight, pretty much bomb-proof, and so cool looking. My mountain bike is now way cooler than your mountain bike.

The 170mm length is the perfect length for my riding style and the terrain in North Carolina. I'm definitely not hitting trail obstacles with my cranks as often, but I almost hit a tree because I couldn't stop staring at these cranks!

The installation was super straightforward on my Dub boost bottom bracket. It works perfectly with my Wolf Tooth oval chainring and the aluminum tensioning mechanism is a great quality touch. These cranks also come in black and orange colors if you're trying to match your bike's color scheme. One other cool thing that I like is that with my OneUp pedals, the pedals will always hit the ground before the cranks as the bearing on the OneUp aluminum flat pedals is large and falls below the end of the crank. I'll definitely be moving these cranks to the next bike I purchase in the future.

I've always liked CNC'd aluminum parts and my itch was scratched by these 5Dev cranks. These things are so beautifully CNC machined and finished out of high-quality aluminum.

Red Bull called too, they invited me to ride Hardline 2023, not because I can actually hang, but because I look so dang fly with these cranks on my whip they thought I had wings. All this because I bought the shiniest, dopest cranks available. Get you some! You won't regret it. Unless you hit a tree because you can't stop staring at them.

As always WorldWide Cyclery packed and shipped these quickly and they arrived on time. I always buy from Worldwide if the price is right. They have the best customer service and are super responsive to questions and concerns. Plus they just seem like all-around cool guys you'd want to have a beer with.

Final Thoughts

Not only do the 5Dev cranks look very sick on the bike! They're also very stiff and CNC'd very well in the U.S! Highly recommended!
