Race Face is no stranger to producing reliable carbon components. New to the scene from Race Face is the Next R series which is suited right between the Next SL and SixC groups. The R stands for Rally and will benefit the rider who tends to push the envelope harder than an XC rider but doesn’t quite need the added weight and durability of the DH oriented SixC line of components. Here’s a look at what’s cooking over at Race Face!
The Next R is the first carbon wheelset that Race Face has produced and is designed around the Vault hub which is featured on the Turbine wheelset. We have plenty of experience on the Turbine wheels/Vault hub so we are pretty stoked to try out this new wheelset. With 120 points of engagement (3 degrees), you will always be able to hammer down and get moving! The carbon rims themselves have a 31mm internal width and depth of 24mm. Each rim contains 28 spoke holes which all use the same size spoke – each spoke is offset by 4mm, thus creating equal spoke tension on both sides of the wheel.
Claimed weight for the 27.5” wheelset is 1680g while the 29” wheelset comes in at 1765g. The Next R Wheelset will retail for $1500 which is a pretty killers price considering you are getting a durable carbon rim laced up to a solid performing hub.
Get sideways with the new Next R crankset on your rig! These rowdy cranks are perfect for pedal heavy outings where you still need to shred some singletrack. Race Face took elements from the SixC crank, blended them with the best parts of the Next SL crank, and out popped the Next R crank. Light. Strong. Race ready. These things come in at 495g with a 32T ring and are available in 170mm or 175mm lengths.
The Next R handlebar comes in two different lengths, 780 or 800mm and weigh in at 215g (800mm). Rise options include 10, 20, and 35mm and include an 8 degree backsweep and 5 degree upward sweep. These bars were designed for aggressive trail riding and will be a welcome addition on your AM/Enduro bike.
